Hi,

I have to requests that I’d like to discuss them with you:

  1. A student of mine is working on training a speech recognition library for her master thesis and needs access to a virtual linux server. Can we get her access to an Ubuntu 16 server with relatively good specifications (Core i7 CPU and +16 GB RAM).
  2. I am working on training classifiers to recognise objects and need powerful GPUs (Nvidia). Recently, I came across this linkhttps://wiki.rbg.tum.de/Informatik/Benutzerwiki/LehrstuhlVM and I’m curious to know whether I can get access to virtual servers with Nvidia GPUs? I f RBG can’t help me with that, do we have Nvidia GPUs available in our chair?

Hi Sajjad,

  1. ist mit unserer aktuellen Infrastruktur leider nicht zu leisten. Wir sind gerade in Verhandlungen bezüglich eines größeren Servers für den Lehrstuhl; wir haben hierfür aber aktuell noch keine konkrete Zusage und können erst recht noch keine Zusage für so eine von dir/deiner Studentin gewünschte große VM machen.

  2. Bei uns am LS haben wir keine Nvidia GPUs zur Verfügung. Ich gehe davon aus, dass auch die RBG keine VMs mit Nvidia GPUs zur Verfügung stellt, habe vorsichtshalber aber eine Anfrage dort gestellt.

Falls sich weitere Informationen/Neuigkeiten dazu ergeben - z.B. auch von der RBG oder von unseren Admins -, dann kriegst du Bescheid!
