Reply-To: cloud-admin@lrz.deDear Ruth Demmel,
today I am writing because you are the master user of the following 1 LRZ
project having permissions to use the LRZ Compute Cloud:pn73ju IL01 Computing Zugang
As you may have heard LRZ wants to start charging money for the usage of
the Compute Cloud service. This idea is around for several years now and this
mail is a heads-up that we currently work on a system to collect usage data and
implement (still missing) components needed for the accounting and billing
process. We know the lack of an overview of resources currently used (and charged for)
on a per-project basis as well as the possibility to limit costs in any way.
These are points we currently focus on.
Besides that we try to ensure that the fundamental data needed for accounting
and billing is complete and consistent before sending out any invoices or even
cost estimations. To give you a rough idea this table will provide you with the costs when using
a particular flavor for one complete day.
These costs vary depending on the usage class ("Nutzerklasse") your project
belongs to.Flavor NK1 - NK3 NK4 - NK6
---------------+-----------+----------
lrz.small 0,22 Euro 0,33 Euro
lrz.medium 0,44 Euro 0,65 Euro
lrz.large 0,87 Euro 1,30 Euro
lrz.xlarge 2,18 Euro 3,24 Euro
lrz.2xlarge 4,35 Euro 6,48 Euro
lrz.4xlarge 8,70 Euro 12,94 Euro
nvidia-v100.1 7,02 Euro 13,24 Euro
nvidia-v100.2 14,05 Euro 26,47 EuroAn overview of the available flavors and the associated virtual hardware can be
found on our website: https://doku.lrz.de/display/PUBLIC/FAQ#FAQ-FlavorsThere are still some open points and although I am not able to provide you with
a detailed roadmap or a particular date when we start charging you for your
resource consumption you should prepare yourself that the free usage of the
compute cloud service will come to an end. We hope that we can still offer free
access to a limited amount of resources in the future.
As soon as we have more information we will let you know.I am aware that this mail might raise questions we cannot answer appropriately
at the moment. There are still many points that need to be discussed
LRZ-internally. For that reason we are open and thankful for any feedback
regarding this topic.I will keep you up to date as soon I have any news to share.
Best regards
Niels Fallenbeck
